Carmen $ummer, born Dec. 28th 1995 is a singer and songwriter who grew up on Chicago’s Eastside with her mother, and two brothers. She began writing music for fun at the age of 12. In and out of her school and church choir, she was determined to make sense of the world around her. “It started with writing poetry in my spare time, then writing full song books. Music became a way for me to escape the world around me.”
It wasn’t until her junior year of high school that she wrote her first single “BAW$E” then followed up with another track “Summer Love”. In the beginning, the most important part of music for $ummer was proving to herself and everyone around her that it was possible. She eventually finished her first EP “Pink Magic” in 2016 and the growth has been undeniable musically and spiritually. “$ummer is a very talented artist well on her way to shocking a lot of people.” says Chicago Artist and friend Shela.
“I was told I wasn't good enough or pretty enough, I know different now.” Since then $ummer has traveled to different states to perform. After releasing her sophomore EP #MOOD, $ummer is currently working on visuals, and more collaborations with Chicago Artists. With her versatility, $ummer proved that she’s capable of blowing up and #MOOD is just the beginning of many projects to come in 2020.
